Nutramigen with LGG is not recommended for premature and immunocompromised infants unless directed and supervised by a healthcare professional.
LGG is a probiotic isolated from the intestinal tract of healthy humans. LGG has pili — hair-like appendages found on the probiotic that enable effective colonisation of the gut.7
Clinical evidence demonstrates that the combination of Nutramigen with LGG accelerates the return to milk† and reduces the incidence of other allergic manifestations‡ in infants with cow’s milk allergy (CMA)8,9
Please note the preparation instructions of Nutramigen with LGG (which has replaced Nutramigen LIPIL) have been updated since the preparation instructions for Nutramigen LIPIL in order to preserve the LGG.
Nutramigen 1 & 2 with LGG are foods for special medical purposes and should only be used under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
- Do not freeze prepared formula and do not use if unrefrigerated for more than a total of 2 hours

†As probiotics are inactivated by hot water, the reconstitution of a feed containing probiotics falls outside of current WHO recommendations. The BDA recommends that when healthcare facilities are able to make individual fresh feeds with foods for special medical purposes that contain probiotics for immediate consumption, these should be reconstituted by adhering to a strict safe preparation technique.11
